My friendships needed three essential qualities: intelligence, humor and compassion. Tony and Bonnie had all of these in abundance. Best memories of my life are when Tony and Bonnie, Ernie Furness and Edie, and Sandra and I were best buddies for many years during seminary and early pastoring years. I still share “Tony jokes” when it seems appropriate. A favorite picture is of Tony holding a tiny trout while at our Oregon cabin as it if was a world record. Even though we haven’t been together for many years Hennebergs and Furnesses are in my heart until my own demise.
